When you talk with engaged couples about their dream of a Hawaii destination wedding, you find that the dreams are as unique as the dreamers. There are many details in making the dream come true, but it's most important to not let your beautiful diversity, spirit and unity get lost in the details. Let our experience help you relax.

Of course we easily arrange traditional Hawaiian ceremonies, with the exchange of beautiful floral leis, and a luau of any size to celebrate. Or ... a wedding of your style, from civil ceremony to formal in a chapel or church. We are LGBTQ-Loving, and you can trust that our weddings are unique to the couples.

Among the Hawaii Wedding Details We Manage:

  • The plan, itinerary and schedule, in print and digitally, with key events added to appropriate calendars (i.e., family, wedding party, etc.)

  • Securing the ordained minister of any faith, and arranging all aspects of the ceremony, plus additional ceremonies (rings, leis, etc.)

  • Securing the Hawaii Marriage License and managing all processes of obtaining it.

  • Logistics: Travel, meals, accommodations, venues, transportation, excursions …

Hawaii Wedding Venues & Destinations

Venues and Destinations

Hawaii wedding venues and destinations ... There are virtually countless options for planning your ceremony and reception, where to stay, and what types of excursions to enjoy as a couple and a wedding party. Choosing the island is a good start in matching the experience to the personalities of the couple and guests. There are eight 'major' islands of Hawaii, six of them 'inhabited', and four of them the usual choices for weddings: Hawaii ('The Big Island'), Oahu, Maui and Kauai.

We can accommodate wedding and ceremony planning in any Hawaiian location where permitted. You may already have a preference for an island and location of ceremony, or you might only begin with "barefoot wedding on the beach in paradise with a breathtaking sunset, and then ... swimming with the manta rays." Done. We will provide suggestions to accommodate your vision, needs and budget, and let the planning begin! With that said, here are the most popular Hawaii destinations for weddings and receptions.

Romantic Maui Weddings

Maui is a romantic island where nature meets the city, so it's often a great choice for couples who want the 'wedding in paradise', but also the night life where they and the wedding party can thoroughly enjoy the best of both worlds.

Dramatic volcanos and pristine beaches provide a broad variety of natural wonders and peaceful quietude, in this Hawaiian island enjoyed for the luxury experience.

Easy Oahu Weddings

Oahu is the most popular Hawaiian island destination for weddings. It's the easiest to get to, therefore easier on the budget from the beginning, and you'll find something for everybody -- from Pearl Harbor to the 'big waves' of the North Shore's Waikiki Beach, to Oahu's namesake "Spouting Waters" of the fresh water rivers. There is certainly peace and quiet to be found, or adventurous activity and night life, so Oahu is often a great choice for larger wedding parties, to accommodate all interests.

Big Island Hawaii Weddings

The state namesake Island, Hawaii, or 'Big Island', is the home of the capital city of Honolulu, and features a comprehensive range of site seeing, activities and traditional Hawaiian entertainment. The Big Island is perfect for activity-loving couples and destination weddings with family and guests, so everyone has many options for fun, beautiful activities and day trips ... from volcano tours to swimming with manta rays, para-sailing and night life. Hawaii is often the choice of couples who say they want the "authentic, traditional Hawaiian wedding ceremony and experience."

The Process: Let's Get Married in Hawaii!

AdobeStock_220035144.jpeg

At Hawaii Weddings Planner, we plan glamorous, fun, and very personal events. When you think of a wedding style, it is, first of all, a personal choice, a personal preference for your style and class. You are the one creating your lifestyle. And your love deserves to be celebrated in the most outstanding way!

We start with questions.

  • How do you envision your wedding?

  • What kind of atmosphere would you like to create?

  • What would you like your guests to feel?

  • Can you see yourself walking down the aisle? What is it like?

  • Can you picture your decorations? What colors pop in your imagination?

  • What about scents, fabrics, and sounds?

Once you have a full picture of your ideal wedding, we'll start designing your wedding day. We will discuss a perfect venue, then proceed with your wedding design. We will think of ways to incorporate your love story to let it shine throughout the entire theme of your event. This day will show the world how much you love and care for each other. After all, we aren't just planning a regular party. We celebrate your commitment and create memories. And this commitment deserves the most luxurious and jaw-dropping celebration!

Private Kauai Weddings

Kauai destination weddings are all about intimacy ... small, remote and quiet with scenic beaches and breathtaking mountain views. Nature-loving adventure seekers enjoy Kauai for such daytrip options as Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Bay, Ke'e Beach, towering sea cliffs and the Kalalau Trail.

Many of our elopement and "just the two" clients feel an immediate attraction to Kauai as being their dream-come-true for a paradise wedding, allowing them as much privacy or adventure as they would want for a romantic wedding and honeymoon.

The Hawaii Marriage License and Certificate

Marriage License

In order to have a legal marriage ceremony in Hawaii, you need to obtain a Marriage License. After you get married, you will receive a Marriage Certificate. The License and the Certificate are different documents. The License permits a marriage to take place. The Certificate indicates that a legal marriage has been performed.

Eligibility for a Hawaii Marriage License

  • There are no state residence or U.S. citizenship requirements.

  • Blood tests are not required.

  • The legal age to marry is 18 years for both applicants.

  • Proof of age is required. A certified copy of a birth certificate must be presented for anyone 18 years of age or under. A valid I.D. or driver’s license may be presented for anyone 19 years of age or over.

  • If previously married, proof of original divorce decree or death certificate needs to be presented to the marriage agent by the applicant if the divorce or death was final within 30 days of applying for a marriage license.

  • Cousins may marry. However, the blood relationship between the prospective applicants cannot be closer than first cousins.

You can apply for your Marriage License in-person or online. It's highly recommended that you apply and pay for the License online. At the convenience of your own home, it will be easier to review and provide all necessary information. It will also speed up the process when you arrive in-person to receive your prepared License. You will need to provide the name of your licensed wedding officiant when filling up the application.

The marriage certificate is prepared and filed by your officiant with the Department of Health. A newly married couple receives one (1) certified copy of the marriage certificate at no extra charge, upon payment of the marriage license fee, which will be sent to the couple by mail (60-120 days) after the marriage has been performed. If a marriage certificate is needed sooner than this, you can apply for one or more additional certified copies.
