Hawaii wedding venues and destinations... When planning your dream wedding in Hawaii, the possibilities are endless. From selecting the perfect ceremony and reception venues to choosing accommodations and organizing unforgettable excursions for you and your guests. The first step in tailoring your Hawaii wedding experience is selecting the ideal island to match the personalities and desires of the couple and their guests. Hawaii boasts eight major islands, six of which are inhabited, with four standing out as the most popular choices for weddings: Hawaii (The Big Island), Oahu, Maui, and Kauai.

Our expertise extends across a wide range of Hawaii wedding venues, ensuring your ceremony and reception are everything you've envisioned, no matter which island you choose. Whether you already have a specific location in mind or are just starting with a vision of a “barefoot wedding on the beach at sunset,” followed by an adventure like “swimming with manta rays,” we can make it happen.

We provide tailored recommendations to suit your vision, needs, and budget, making your dream wedding a reality. With a wealth of stunning Hawaii wedding venues to choose from, we ensure every detail is perfect as we embark on this exciting planning journey together.

Romantic Maui Weddings

Maui is a romantic island where nature meets the city, so it's often a great choice for couples who want the 'wedding in paradise', but also the nightlife where they and the wedding party can thoroughly enjoy the best of both worlds.

Dramatic volcanos and pristine beaches provide a broad variety of natural wonders and peaceful quietude, in this Hawaiian island enjoyed for the luxury experience.

Easy Oahu Weddings

Oahu is the most popular Hawaiian island destination for weddings. It's the easiest to get to, therefore easier on the budget from the beginning, and you'll find something for everybody -- from Pearl Harbor to the 'big waves' of the North Shore's Waikiki Beach, to Oahu's namesake "Spouting Waters" of the fresh water rivers. There is certainly peace and quiet to be found, or adventurous activity and night life, so Oahu is often a great choice for larger wedding parties, to accommodate all interests.

Big Island Hawaii Weddings

The state namesake Island, Hawaii, or 'Big Island', is the home of the capital city of Honolulu, and features a comprehensive range of site seeing, activities, and traditional Hawaiian entertainment. The Big Island is perfect for activity-loving couples and destination weddings with family and guests, so everyone has many options for fun, beautiful activities, and day trips ... from volcano tours to swimming with manta rays, para-sailing, and nightlife. Hawaii is often the choice of couples who say they want the "authentic, traditional Hawaiian wedding ceremony and experience."

Private Kauai Weddings

Kauai destination weddings are all about intimacy ... small, remote, and quiet with scenic beaches and breathtaking mountain views. Nature-loving adventure seekers enjoy Kauai for such day trip options as Waimea Canyon, Hanalei Bay, Ke'e Beach, towering sea cliffs, and the Kalalau Trail.

Many of our elopement and "just the two" clients feel an immediate attraction to Kauai as being their dream-come-true for a paradise wedding, allowing them as much privacy or adventure as they would want for a romantic wedding and honeymoon.

The Hawaii Marriage License and Certificate

Marriage License

In order to have a legal marriage ceremony in Hawaii, you need to obtain a Marriage License. After you get married, you will receive a Marriage Certificate. The License and the Certificate are different documents. The License permits a marriage to take place. The Certificate indicates that a legal marriage has been performed.

Eligibility for a Hawaii Marriage License

  • There are no state residence or U.S. citizenship requirements.

  • Blood tests are not required.

  • The legal age to marry is 18 years for both applicants.

  • Proof of age is required. A certified copy of a birth certificate must be presented for anyone 18 years of age or under. A valid I.D. or driver’s license may be presented for anyone 19 years of age or over.

  • If previously married, proof of original divorce decree or death certificate needs to be presented to the marriage agent by the applicant if the divorce or death was final within 30 days of applying for a marriage license.

  • Cousins may marry. However, the blood relationship between the prospective applicants cannot be closer than first cousins.

You can apply for your Marriage License in-person or online. It's highly recommended that you apply and pay for the License online. At the convenience of your own home, it will be easier to review and provide all necessary information. It will also speed up the process when you arrive in-person to receive your prepared License. You will need to provide the name of your licensed wedding officiant when filling up the application.

The marriage certificate is prepared and filed by your officiant with the Department of Health. A newly married couple receives one (1) certified copy of the marriage certificate at no extra charge, upon payment of the marriage license fee, which will be sent to the couple by mail (60-120 days) after the marriage has been performed. If a marriage certificate is needed sooner than this, you can apply for one or more additional certified copies.
