Oahu


U.S Naval Base Pearl Harbor – Any history buff traveling to Oahu must see the Pearl Harbor Naval Base, which was named a National Historic Landmark on January 29, 1964. Visitors will also be able to see other National Historic Landmarks here, such as the USS Arizona, the USS Bowfin (which is now a museum at Pearl Harbor), and the USS Utah.

Diamond Head – This U.S. National Natural Monument’s proximity to Honolulu’s resorts makes it a popular destination for tourists. It is part of what geologists call the Honolulu Volcanic Series, which is a series of volcanic eruptions that created some of Oahu’s popular landmarks.

National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific – This national cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located at Punchbowl Crater, which is also part of the Honolulu Volcanic Series. It honors veterans of the United States Armed Forces.

Washington Place – Located in the Historic District in Honolulu, this National Historic Landmark was home to the last ruling monarch of Hawaii and was central to the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893. Visitors can take tours and immerse themselves in the past.

Pu’ukohola Heiau National Historic Site – This site is home to the last major Hawaiian temple and was built by Kamehameha I. Visitors will find peaceful walking trails that teach them about Hawaii’s history and culture.
